WhatsApp will no longer be available on Nokia S40 Phones, Plans to stop Services for few other Phones.


The biggest messaging services WhatsApp which is owned by Facebook , It is also used to make video calls and sending media like music, documents, photos and also the location of the user. Well, now that new year has started, WhatsApp has decided to stop its service to Nokia Series 40 phones as the support for those phones have been stopped on 31st of December 2018. Prior to this, the Symbian based S60 was also slashed in 2017 and many other Nokia feature phones followed.

On a blog post, WhatsApp has clearly mentioned that they will be supporting for smartphones that are running on Android 4.0 OS or above, Windows Phone 8.1 or above, iPhone running on iOS 8+ or newer along with JioPhone and JioPhone 2. On the blog post, it is also mentioned that the users will not be able to transfer their chat history between platforms which is bad news for who are planning to change to a newer platform.

WhatsApp can only be activated with one phone number on one device at a time. Furthermore, there’s currently no option to transfer your chat history between platforms. However, WhatsApp provide the option to export your chat history as an email attachment. Learn how to export your chat history on:

For the following operating systems, you can no longer create new accounts. However, you’ll be able to continue using WhatsApp on:

  • Nokia S40 until December 31, 2018
  • Android versions 2.3.7 and older until February 1, 2020
  • iOS 7 and older until February 1, 2020

Note: Because WhatsApp will no longer actively develop for these operating systems, some features might stop functioning at any time.
