The world’s most popular instant messaging app WhatsApp has announced that it will automatically delete data of users if it hasn’t been backed up on Google Drive for over a year.

WhatsApp backups that haven’t been updated in more than one year will be automatically removed from Google Drive storage. To avoid the loss of any backups, we recommend you manually back up your WhatsApp data before November 12, 2018,” said WhatsApp on its FAQ page.

Here’s how to manually back up

1. tap the Menu option on WhatsApp

2. click on Settings

3. tap on Chats. Under that you will be able to see the backup option.
